Gilead Sciences Provides Trainings and Skill Building to Bee Busy
On December 17, Bee Busy welcomed Dr. Bethsheba Johnson, Senior Community Medical Scientist with Gilead Sciences to provide series of trainings and skill building activities to our staff throughout the year. Dr. Johnson is board certified as both a gerontological nurse practitioner and HIV/AIDS nurse practitioner. In 2005, Dr. Johnson was one of 73 persons to be awarded an HIV Leadership Award from The Body.com, and recognized by Health and Human Services Office of Women's Health as an advocate for women and HIV for 20 years.
Winner of the 2013 World AIDS Day Prevention Message Contest
Bee Busy announced that Katrina Bell is the winner of the World AIDS Day Prevention Message Contest. The contest called for creative videos to promote World Aids Day.
When Katrina Bell came to pick up her prize, iPad Mini, she also visited Bee Busy Inc and was able to meet staff and take a tour of our facility.

Bee Busy's mission of the B2M Project is to address the issues that face YMSM (Young Men who have Sex with Men) from combating AIDS-related discrimination, and to support, empower, and enhance the quality of life of African American & Hispanic/Latino YMSM in the Greater Houston area. Through education, training, community outreach, coalition-building, and research, we promote and uphold the ideals of sexuality and sexual health and the acceptance of YMSM.

Candlelight Vigil hosted by Bee Busy, in response to the recent murder of 32-year-old Mark Carson
HOUSTON, TX - May 23, 2013 - Bee Busy joined community members, elected officials, LGBT community leaders, health leaders and allies to denounce hate violence and mourn the senseless death of Mark Carson. The tragedy of Carson’s death is a reminder that anti-gay bigotry and discrimination still exist everywhere; including in places like Houston which violence against gays is on the rise.

Bee Busy Learning Academy Receives Grant to Educate Houston-Area Teens about Pregnancy and STD Prevention
Bee Busy receives $1.5 million from ACYF to implement programs aimed at helping at-risk Houston teens and young adults make safer decisions
HOUSTON, TX—March 29, 2013-- Bee Busy Learning Academy, Inc. (Bee Busy), a Houston-based provider of prevention education and services, has been awarded a $1.5 million grant funded by the Administration for Children and Families, Administration on Children, Youth and Families, Family and Youth Services Bureau’s Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program under Grant # 90AK0028-01-00, in 2012. Bee Busy focuses its prevention efforts on Houston, and in particular the Southwest Houston area. The community organization was awarded the federally funded grant in order to help prevent teen pregnancy and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases through programs advocating abstinence and responsible behaviors.
